Tribute to Clare Torrey Johnson

Clare Johnson was born of Presbyterian missionary parents in North China. She received her High School Education at a school for missionary children in Pyeng Yang, North Korea.

Majoring in Christian Education, she was graduated from Wheaton College in Illinois, where she met her husband Glen. He received his M.Div. degree from Princeton Seminary in 1946. After a brief ministry in the USA the couple left for Japan with their first two children in 1950. There they served as evangelistic missionaries. Two more children were born to them in Japan.

In 1962 Clare and Glen went into the pastorate in the United States, serving churches in Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois before retiring to Florida in 1988. They have two children in the ministry in Florida and one who is a pastor in St. Louis. Their eldest son is a businessman in Japan. Clare with her husband, continues to be active in church work as well as pursuing a writing career.
