July, 2008 Vol. 7 No.3
Dear friends,
Greetings from Mongolia in the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior.
It is getting cooler already. Naadam festival happened from July 11th to 13th. They say that after Naadam, the fall begins. Just like that, it is cool in the morning and in the evening. However, we are spending a very hot summer in the countryside in the grace of God.
We came back from finishing our ministry in Bayatsogt on July 3rd to Ulaanbaatar. Because Naadam in the countryside begins earlier than in the city, we had to finish our ministry by July 2nd. We watched the race of the one year old horses in the morning of the 3rd and came back to Ulaanbaatar.
For one week during Naadam in Ulaanbaatar, we prepared for ministry at the next countryside location. We had to choose a different village than Batsumber to go because we would not be allowed to do our ministry. We chose another village, Arkhost, located southwest of Ulaanbaatar. We took a train for five hours on July 13th. Our team consisted of ten adults and two children.
We did English, Korean, and computer classes, and also math and art class for kids there. We were very sorry not to do literacy ministry there because that season was when the nomads moved their animals and we were unable to gather illiterate people. Even though we didn?t do literacy ministry, we were very glad to do our classes because the students were very eager to learn languages and computer skills. In every morning we also had math and art classes for kids and it was a good approach to be close with kids.
We also showed movies to villagers and made good friendships. There is one local church that has been there for three years, so we encouraged our new friends to attend the church.
We did quiet time every morning and read the Bible every evening. Through that time, we discussed the Word with each other. We read from the Book of Mark, and when we reached chapter 10 we shared about Jesus? serving at verse 45. We confessed that this outreach to the countryside was a good opportunity to practice serving not only villagers but also each other.
Byambdolgor, who accepted and helped us while we were in Arkhost became our friend. We had a good friendship with her and brought her to the local church. She was open to the gospel a little but did not yet received it because of Mongolian tradition. The tradition is that two religions cannot exist within one family. She will be in our prayers.
We came back from Arkhost on July 29th and another outreach is continuing in Altanbulag.
Prayer requests
1. Pray for our outreach to the countryside. The schedule is as following:
8/1 ? 8/14 Altanbulag: Literacy, English, and computer classes
8/18 ? 8/29 Narin: Literacy class
2. Gina will go back to the USA on Aug. 5th. During these six weeks she has taught English to villagers, team members, and our kids, Grace and Luke. It was a blessing to us. We give thanks and praise to God. May God bless her and reward her for her sacrifice.
3. Pray for developing Inner Mongolian primer from August 27th to September 6th. Two Inner Mongolians, a Mongolian, Dr. Kim, and we will be one team. Pray that all things go well during that time.
4. A check-up for our stomachs on Aug. 15th
5. Pray for fruit during summer ministry, that we can help them to grow up and to keep in touch.
?For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many (Mark 10:45)?
We are praying for all of you to be in the grace and love of God all the time.
Sincerely in Jesus,
Gamaliel, Gloria, Grace, and Luke Kim
