Subject:   Urgent, serious prayer request!

Message:   Hi, you all! I got an email from Bro Ben Torrey today with an urgent prayer request on it. This is a very serious prayer request for Mr. Je Yell Kim, a humanitarian worker who has been working in the Rason region of North Korea for the past ten years. He has a background in dental tech and business, and has had the support of many ngo's from the USA, Canada, and S. Korea for his work up there. He has also been very successful in getting some positive support from the North Korean government in the past for his work there. He has helped many people that live in that region who have known famine, hardship, and strife all of their lives, and has trained many people in dental technician work. Now, the North Korean government has turned their back on him, and on November 3, 2007, has arrested and has detained him on charges of "national security", whatever that means. That could mean just about anything that the North Koreans could think of in order to hold him hostage in their unsafe, unsanitary jails there. Mr. Kim's family has asked Bro Ben Torrey to spread the word about Mr. Kim's situation and have a worldwide prayer chain going to ask God for a positive outcome for Mr. Kim so that he will be released and go home to Canada and his family. Mr. Kim and his family are South Koreans who are now Canadian citizens, so the Canadian government thru their consulate has been working very hard and very quietly to get Mr. Kim released as soon as possible. Also, the Kim family, friends, colleagues, and churches have also been working hard to get him released. Unfortunately, there has been no word from the N. Korean government about when or if Mr. Kim will be allowed out of detainment, so the people involved in his release efforts have had no luck in getting this resolved in a timely manner. Also, the Kim family has found out that Mr. Kim's health has been deteriorating since his confinement in this unsanitary jail, and they want to have him home ASAP so that his health can be addressed. Mr. Kim was working thru Reah International out of Canada. Please spread the word about this remarkable person who has done a lot of good Christian work in N. Korea, and continually keep praying for him and his family. Hopefully, we will see a breakthru in this situation and see Mr. Kim released from detainment and come home to his family!
Love in the Lord,
Sis Chari Mercier :)
